Missouri as of 6:45a:
McCain 49%
Obama 48%
There is only a few thousand votes between them.
And there are still tens of thousands of provisional votes to sort through!
I called mom this morning to ask her if she ever imagined she'd see a half black man as president. She was raised in a time of race riots. There was still some tenacious segregation in places. My grandfather was a very out-spoken racist. Mom said she has a great feeling today. The world has changed in a night.
She does seem a bit bothered that everyone keeps referring to Obama as "black" though when he really only favors that half of his parentage. Either way, he's really transcended racial boundaries. He's intelligent, well-spoken, and has a great sense of humor.
What's the Daily Show going to do without Dubba-yuh to poke fun at next year? Their writers might actually have to work.
Finally, if I remember anything from this election, it's going to be: PUPPY!
I recommend a rescue mutt! (but a corgi would also be primo :DDDD)
I will also accept a golden retriever as First Puppy.
