We took Spider to the vet yesterday, for her eye. Sometime in May, Squeaks was a bad kitty and they got into a boxing match, and Spider's eye got scratched. It hasn't healed well.
There's this brownish scab on the surface, and it's kind of...gooey. So I panicked and thought she must have a horrible infection. The vet said no, it may be irritated, but it would look different if it were seriously infected (I'll spare any readers the details). However, she couldn't explain why there was still a dark scab on the surface, because eyes don't normally heal that way.
So she referred us to a veterinary ophthalmologist. This will be interesting. I called them this morning. Their consultation fee is about a third higher than the ordinary vet's, but that's not as godawful as I expected. So I'm going to save my pennies and do it, because she's my kitty and my responsibility. My appointment isn't until Oct 23, though. They book way in advance. So there's also a chance that her eye will miraculously heal before then and I can cancel the appointment. >_> Probably not, but one can hope.
