He had been staying out of the Master's way as much as possible for the past week or so - it didn't take a brilliant mind like his to sort out that the Master didn't like him very well. If it weren't for Rose, he was certain he'd have been dumped out into the nearest black hole they came across a long time ago. As big as the TARDIS was, he knew

He walked into the kitchen, expecting to find it as empty as he had last seen it, and was surprised to find it currently in use.
By the Master's hand.
It had been nearly a week since he had seen John, and frankly he had almost forgot the other man was still on board. While the Master may not enjoy John's company.. well, Jack still wasn't sure what to make of him. But at the moment he was in need of company, and there was an old saying that he felt was appropriate.
'Beggars can't be choosers.'
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?"

"Jack!" He said, almost sounding as relieved as he felt at seeing Jack alone, "Hello, care for a smoothie?"

He walked over next to John and leaned on the counter, running a finger through the banana mess before putting the finger in his mouth.
"Mmm. Not that bad - though I'm pretty sure it'd be a lot better in a glass." He turned to retrieve two glasses from the cupboard, "Haven't seen you in a few days. Where've you been hiding yourself?"
Reply
"Me? Hiding? Never! I've just been busy, is all." Not bothering to clean up the mess, he disconnected the blender and poured it into the glasses Jack provided, "Say, speaking of busy.. Have you seen Rose lately? I wanted to ask her something."
Reply
"She's with Master. In the console room." He took a drink from the glass before holding the other out for John, "Why don't you ask me instead? Wouldn't want to bother her while the two of them are spending some quality time together, now would you?"
He didn't know what this was all about, but he might as well give the Hand a chance to confess. That, or give himself more rope to hang himself with. Either would do fine, Jack wasn't very picky.

He smiles pleasantly at Jack and took the offered glass, "I wanted to talk to her about the next time we stop somewhere. I was thinking that I might go out for a bit. Get some fresh air, pick up a few things that I needed, grab some chips. You know. Just stuff."
Reply
"Just stuff, huh? What kind of things did you need to pick up?"

John sighed and set the glass back down, turning to face Jack properly. "I need a soldering kit, some ping pong balls or golf balls, glue, duct tape, and sherbert lemons. I'll stay out of the way, I won't bother anyone, and I'm not asking Rose to go with me. I'll be in the TARDIS before the Master's ready to leave - I'll even leave after everyone else."
"All I want to do is let Rose know I want to go out. Nothing else. I just don't want to be left behind."
Reply
"Alright." He said finally, finishing off the last of the smoothie, "I'll let Rose know you want to talk to her - and then I'll tell Master."
Jack headed back towards the door, setting the dirty glass on a table on the other side of the room just to inconvenience John, and flashed one of his charming smiles back at him, "Don't forget, Hand. You owe me for this."
And John did. Telling the Master after telling Rose was absolutely suicide -- but if he did it in any other order, Rose would never find out. It had been a while since the Master had punished him, though.
He missed the attention.
