Happy Spay Day 2011!
If you didn't know, International Spay Day is a day championed by
The Humane Society of the United States to advocate and inform about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets.
In addition to the HSUS programs, many local charities, businesses, and shelters hold events such as free/reduced cost spay days for those that generally could not afford the veterinary bills, carnivals that benefit spay/neuter related charities, and awareness events.
Are you going to be participating in an event this week/end? I want to hear about it! If you'd like to, but are kind of clueless on the matter, you can find all the Spay Day events happening near you
here.
Just because you're not a regular volunteer doesn't mean you can't go out and be awesome for just one day. Just because you can't do everything doesn't mean you can't do anything. Help in any way you can, whether that's donating your money, your time, or just spreading the word about the importance of fixing your animals.
Sorry, I try to stay off my soap box as much as I can, but animal welfare is one of the things I'm hugely passionate about, and something as small as spaying or neutering your pet can make such a huge difference in the lives of animals.
I know that I'm going to make a difference in at least one animal's life this week. Are you?
Is your pet the cutest of them all? Then enter them in the
Humane Society's Pet Photo Contest. Enter your own pet and/or vote for your favorites. Each vote donates $1 directly to spaying and neutering pets through your selected charity. I have one of my own babies entered, and you can see (and even vote for)
Bones here.
(And in case anyone was wondering, no, that is not my name. Funny story, actually.)
Do you have a pet? Pets? I want to see them! Spam me with pictures and or cute stories of their antics.
