Note: this is one of the two spin-offs of "Could You, Maybe,..." I've had in mind. The title is from "Prince Charming" by Adam Ant (thanks again,

this one.
The day has been busy for Andrea.
Working for the official team is stressful even when there is ‘nothing to do’ - this is probably some misunderstanding somewhere in the Japanese-English-Italian translation or maybe the Japanese are really that different from the Italians or it’s even possible that the Japanese are sadistic and hate him so they like to crush his hopes of peace and quiet at every opportunity.
What scares him the most is that the season hasn’t even started yet, so he can just imagine what the team will make him do between the races.
Luckily his body seems to know the way to his room without any input from him because his mind is already thinking about the comfy mattress and the hot shower that he’ll take when he’ll be able to move again.
But when he enters his room, his idea of falling onto the bed and sleeping forever vanish faster than Usain Bolt.
There’s Jorge sat on his bed - unfortunately fully clothed and even more unfortunately with his laptop.
“Hi.”
“Hey Andrea.”
But he doesn’t continue. It’s strange because Jorge usually talks a lot when they’re together, especially after being apart for some days. But, Jorge barely looks at him too, so whatever he is doing with that laptop must be very important.
Andrea is quite curious about the strange behaviour of the Spaniard but when Jorge moves a bit, to leave him a bigger space on the bed, the full force of his tiredness hits him and he falls not-so-gracefully on the bed, relaxing every muscle and sighing contentedly.
In this position he can’t see the screen of the laptop but he has a clear view of Jorge’s face and, after some minutes of total relaxation, he tries to decipher his boyfriend’s expression.
It’s something he has seen before, he is sure of that.
But it’s not the happy giggling of when he reads mail from his fans, who he calls ‘the only ones that know the truth’ or his ‘loyal disciples’. In those moments his entire face expresses his happiness and, somehow, he even looks a lot younger.
Jorge’s look is not even like the one he had when Andrea stopped him from sneaking into the HRC box. He thought it would have been funny to completely cover Pedrosa’s motorbike with his stickers. That look was somehow mischievous and made him totally not believe Jorge when he told him, “What? I just want to leave him a little gift... as a peace sign!”
Fortunately, Andrea saw him and dragged him away. They ended up in a cinema making stupid comments about an even more stupid cartoon.
Jorge’s look is not the sick one, the aroused one, the tired one, the hungry one, the “this is a stupid question” one... Andrea can recognize a lot of different expressions that flit across the Spaniard’s face but this one, somehow, escapes him.
He watches the laptop screen intensely, almost like he’s waiting for it to melt under his gaze. He is... challenging whatever he’s watching. Now Andrea can give a name to that expression- it’s his competition face, the one he saw on the few occasions that they fought against each other during their 250cc seasons.
He’s challenging something virtual. He never thought that Jorge would reach this point.
He’s on the verge of saying something to him - making fun of him, mostly - when Jorge abruptly stands up, takes his digital camera and puts it on a nightstand.
Andrea doesn’t understand.
“Jorge, what are you doing?!”
The Spaniard adjusts the angle of the camera.
“Look at the laptop.”
There are three Youtube pages open, all of them showing three variations of the same advertisement. Every advert starts with a naked man who manages to throw on an almost complete outfit within ten seconds.
Andrea knows the advert but he still doesn’t understand.
“Andrea, don’t tell me you don’t understand! Have you seen those?! I could have done it SO much better!”
“You’ve done an advert like that, Jorge.”
That particular advert Andrea remembers with startling clarity and it has been in his favourites on Youtube for a long time now. A half naked Lorenzo always brightened the worst of days.
“But I was dressed! All I had to do was move around a bit, and while I admit that I did it wonderfully...”
“Yes...?”
“Everyone remembers those adverts and not mine!”
Andrea almost can’t believe he was having this conversation. He always knew that Jorge loved attention, loved to be number one, and he loved it best of all when other people saw him as being superior to them, but this was a little too much even for him. And Andrea still doesn’t understand the purpose of digital camera.
“What are you going to do with the camera?”
Jorge rolls his eyes and exclaims, “You really are dumb sometimes!”
“Oh, I’m sorry if I’m so tired from working all day that I can’t keep up with that twisted little mind of yours...”
“I want to show the world that I could’ve done the adverts way better than those three did!”
And with this declaration Jorge starts to undress in front of the camera.
Andrea lets out a groan and puts a pillow over his face. He can’t believe this is really happening.
Do you have the time
To listen to me whine
About nothing and everything
All at once?
I am one of those
