as i move thru grad school, my prep for writing is getting more and more ridiculous. i've compiled something like 40-45 pages of research notes and quotations, mostly single-spaced - which is more than i'll actually have to write between my 2 papers. it's so much that it isn't even functional or reasonable in any way for me to work from these notes and scroll all over the place - so i'll have to print them off and sort've arrange them on the floor. technology has the last laugh again...

my topics, btw? the racialized (and gendered, and sexualized) nature of american attitudes toward immigration following 9/11 as read through baseball's steroid crisis, and the heteronormalizing function of the (always already queer) sidekick in superhero narratives. they should both actually be pretty fun to write - at least as fun as churning out a research paper in this kind of time with fast-approaching deadlines and with other work on the go can possibly be.
