Well i'm coming to realize that choosing to be straight-edge also means choosing to be let down, and disappointed. Being straight-edge is like a means to Isolation, it's almost like your purposefully setting yourself aside from your own friends, and it gets lonely after a while when you realize that your not like 98% of your friends and then you

The isolation we feel IS something we bring upon ourselves, but that's only because we choose to live with compassion for our bodies and as an example for others, whereas most everyone else chooses to believe that it's 'okay' to have a beer every once in a while or whatnot. Well, it's not okay. If they're not destroying brain cells, the toxic poisons people dump into themselves to 'relax' or 'chill' are destroying their soul and spirit. This is a black and white issue, period. Don't think you're destroying something sacred? Well, try this on:
A life where substances are needed to dull the inherent beauty of life, even when things are at their worst, is NOT a life worth living. Being alive and sober is the most precious thing in the world. Why the fuck would you squander such a gift by being high, even if for a few hours? Fuck that. I will live with sober eyes. I will live my life with ME at the fucking helm.
See where we're coming from?
I didn't used to be straight-edge, but then again, I didn't used to be vegan - or incredibly liberal (to the point where I still think ALL drugs should be legalized) - or married - or anything that I am. But I do know that I will be 'edge for life. The day I'm not is the day that I am officially dead, be it in spirit or physically.
Only the strong survive. XXX
P.S. Calling those with straight-edge convictions 'nazi-esque' is just a simple way to avoid a true dialogue...
