Well it’s been quite a month. My colleague Lance was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident on 16 February. I was on a first date (sort of) with a fantastic lass named Melissa; it was not auspicious. I attended on the scene and on the morgue then arranged the funeral together with my boss, so as to spare the family, all in the space of less than 24 hours. Telling his friends was hard; bearing the pall and filling the grave almost mechanical; returning to work, empty.
My Crohn’s is in full blast relapse and on my second outing with the aforesaid Mel my antibiotics (400mg Flagyl thrice a day; nasty stuff) formed a veritable Molotov cocktail with the alcohol, creatine and other stuff in my body to cause projectile vomiting. Lucky I managed to leave in time not to embarrass myself (although far too early); but I didn’t get home in time not to embarrass my poor car
Then yesterday next to the High Court in Joburg, surrounded for Zuma’a sake by police and within spitting distance of three of them, I was assaulted, my throat crushed, held at knife point and searched by 4 - 6 “youths”. Degrading and humiliating - I am not a weak person but I was unable to defend myself. It stung. At least the fools only got my cell.
The good news I suppose is that Mel is still interested (what a girl - after all that!); it’s the Metallica concert next Saturday (I’ve waited over a decade); and my whole-upper-arm tattoo is healing well and is a really impressive piece. Next month the next one :)
