Testing you literary hipsters of two decades ago...

So, literary hipsters of the late 80's, which is to say fans of Kundera and Eco and etc. how do you reconcile or synthesize the thoughts of these two follwing pieces?

I didn't read 'The Name of the Rose' but did read 'Foucault's Pendulum'...and while it may not be hipster, though maybe it is, I always thought the character on Eko on LOST was named in honor of said author...are you still doing any DJ sets around town?
