GOSH THIS POST GOT SWALLOWED BY TORCHWOOD D:

It's interesting the range of subjects science undertakes. On one hand, there's the idea of crashing a spaceship into an asteroid (to divert its course and thus Save the Human Race), and then there's justification for bad habits (well, I love chocolate anyway, but it seems like we're trying to justify our obesity just a bit!). (Um, and this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with science, but haha, I WAS RIGHT: Britney's selling her hair for cancer XD)

And then there's psychology, wherein they try to explain away every personality trait and fault as a chemical imbalance or improper development of the amygdala or whatnot.

Science frustrates me sometimes.

I need to rewatch Torchwood D: I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH I MISSED IANTO'S VOICE (especially when he says "certificate" because it's so lispy and cute x)). Prompted by the alarming proclamation of Jack/Ianto sex as Absolutely Canon, I rewatched the stopwatch scene. OK, yes, it is (of course) highly suggestive, but agh I don't know :x. Ianto does call Jack by his name (despite many fic writers' insistence that Jack is always Sir to Ianto), and Jack does his crazy smile, but still. And then there's the snog in The End of Days. Jack kisses everyone, yes (even Owen, on the top of the head o_O), but it could still be an "I'm back" sort of kiss, similar to his farewell to Nine and Rose. Ianto obviously is shocked at his resurrection and he's not overcome with lust or joy, and despite his emo stint in Jack's office, he doesn't do much to help Jack :|. Just like with Lisa, he ultimately gives up and accepts what's happened. He could've started looking for the other Risen Mitten or something, I DON'T KNOW XD.

Plus, there's a very small percentage of the population who are truly bisexual, and it's very unlikely that the majority of the team is attracted to both sexes. Jack, okay, we can say he's from a different version of the human race and is thus wildly sexual and open to anything. Owen is questionable - he does hook up with that couple he hooks up with in Everything Changes, but it's obvious that he was only looking for a girl to shag. He's probably a more toned down version of Jack - where Jack will sleep with anyone (or thing) that's interested, Owen will do what he has to to get his own pleasure; he will "take care of" any obstacles that come in his way. Apart from that one girl's boyfriend, he is decidedly heterosexual in his relationships (Gwen, Diane, even his thoughts about Tosh in Greeks Bearing Gifts).

I think it's alright to reason that Tosh is strictly lesbian. Right, okay, she did have feelings for Owen, and most people are aware of their sexuality prior to adulthood, but I think there are ways to explain around those. First off, with Owen, it seems like she only had a sort of "schoolgirl crush" on him, and c'mon, it is very common for heterosexuals to have crushes on people of the same sex (nothing overly sexual, just a crush) and I suppose the same would go for homosexuals, with people of the opposite sex. Also, Tosh has referenced her family's strict nature, which may have suppressed her realization of sexual desires and thus her own sexuality. She's obviously distraught after Mary, but she doesn't revert to crushing on Owen (in Combat, she nonchalantly mentions Owen's love for Diane, and it's Gwen who goes crazy).

And, oh, Tosh, no one at Torchwood really seems to care for her :|. In Captain Jack Harkness, it was always about getting Jack back, never Tosh :(((. AND SHE DOES A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN LIKE, GWEN AND OWEN COMBINED. Hell, you could reason that she's the one who got them back to the future. (Or, erm, the present XD)

Gwen is heterosexual, and I don't think there's any evidence to the contrary. She's got feelings for Rhys, Owen, and a bit for Jack (though I think, throughout the series, these progressed from lust in Ghost Machine (the gun scene) to respect and admiration in the later series - he becomes a strong figure (somewhat like a father-figure), unwavering, although her life is constantly chaotic). She does kiss Carys, but, c'mon, FRIGGIN' ALIEN SEX MACHINE?! Of course, Gwen was just trying to help her, overwhelmed with guilt for what she did. Perhaps she thought she could pull the alien into her own body through a kiss...? Because Carys obviously did not attract every man instantly - at the clinic, she had to force herself on some men!

ETA: THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS RAMBLING. This was spurred on mostly by fic. It really bothers me when people say, "Ohh, I was heterosexual before you...you changed me..." That just doesn't happen :x. I know it's convenient and all, but, sheesh :|.

ETA 2: While, I'm on the subject of fics, first-person fics scare the hell outta me. Like, "I'm having a lovely dream. Ianto is sucking my cock. I'm not pregnant." OMG NO I'M NOT :x. Though I do suppose it's better than "You are humping Jack's leg and you think that he's really hawt ~*~"

Haha, this makes me want to piece together a fic from badfic quotes XD

There totally was a Doctor Who shoutout on the Simpsons yesterday, too :*
