On behalf of the pup, I'd like to say thank you for the honorable mention in the category of Favorite Animal or Non-Human. Both unicorn and mun were quite surprised and flattered that she was nominated! Thank you! =)

:) She is one of my all time favorites, though I've really neglected her. And considering that, I'm especially flattered someone thought of her!

They are making a new version of The Last Unicorn, you know. I'm sure it will be awesome, but I'll always love the cartoon best.

The cartoon has a special place in my heart too, probably because I managed to watch it about 34793 times throughout my childhood! And I did hear about the new version and was excited... but apparently at this point it's not completely certain that it will even be made. There's a lot of info on the imdb.com messageboards, some of it actually posted by Peter S. Beagle's business manager. Here's a
link to a FAQ compiled by one of the posters, if you're interested.

And sorry it took me a month to respond!

I just remembered, you have to register on imdb before you can see the messageboards... so if the link doesn't work that's why! I'd be happy to C&P the info in an email or something if you still want to read it!

That's okay, I'm registered. I read it. Hmmm, how odd. If they can make Narnia, why not this story? It just seems like these days it wouldn't be so difficult.

You would think so, especially with the success/popularity of LOTR and now Narnia! I guess the film making business is just a fickle beast at heart. Still, having reread that FAQ it seems more optimistic than I remembered, so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

It's amusing (and a bit frightening!) to read the casting suggestions on that particular MB... Hillary Duff as Amalthea? =/

I hope they can get it worked out. It would be a great movie!

This is my expression at the idea of Hilary Duff as Amalthea... hmm, no, I simply can't convey that with just the keyboard. Egads.

Me too. It would be really cool to see a live action version, especially if Christopher Lee plays Haggard... I mean, he is King Haggard, in my mind. Though the prospect of the unicorn being played by a white horse does not please the pup in the least!

*snickers!* Yeah, it's just... wrong, really.

Oh, he would be perfect! I have to admit, Jon Rhys Meyers would be a good Shemendrick, although his nose isn't quite big enough. ;) I think they should use a CGI unicorn for sure. How could a real horse do even half that stuff????

It's beyond wrong. It's blasphemous!

Maybe they could give him a fake big nose, the way they did Nicole Kidman in The Hours? Only then JRM might not be as pretty as the unicorn!

I have trouble imagining the horse thing working out, but I guess if they enhance it with special effects... as long as it's not like Legend, where if you watch closely you can actually see the horns wobbling on the horses where they stuck them to their foreheads. >_< (Though I do like that movie, I have to admit!)

Hehe. Well, I was always under the impression Shmendrick wasn't supposed to be prettier than the unicorn. ;) I have a friend who could play him! He's had his nose broken like three times. ;)

Too true. I still think they should use CGI, because then they could give it the proper tail and all that. Plus, wouldn't that be worlds easier than training a horse? On the other hand, I guess horse trainers need jobs too. ;)
