Mind blowing experience.

As most of you probably don't know, yesterday was the day of the Tool concert. We've had our tickets since February and suffice to say, I was really excited to go! On our way there, some stoner in front of us (who was, amusedly, also going to the concert) wasn't paying attention to the traffic and suddenly stomped on his brakes. We followed suit, except we ran into the back of him. The wee Thunderbird took some damage, mostly cosmetic, and Jayson decided (since the insurance paper in our car was out of date) to let it slide. We were a little shaken up, but no big deal. We get to the Ford Center, we park our car, and we sit outside for an hour and a half before being let inside.

The opening band, Kinski, was great. If you liked A Perfect Circle, you'll like Kinski - with one major difference. There's no vocalist in Kinski, just the band playing music. Kinda heavy and yet melodic, with some experimentation going on the meanwhile. At one point or another, the female bassist used a violin bow. After they were finished, we waited another 15 - 20 minutes and just before Tool came on, a fight broke out that we got to see. Everyone cheered for the cops and then the lights went off. Maynard greeted us with "Greetings, drunken assholes!" For the next two hours or so, I was witness to the best musical performance I have ever seen. I can't even describe it. I wish I'd brought my cell phone with me, I could have taken little photos. Let's see if I can recall some of the songs they played (I got a little second-hand stoned, lewl).

Forty Six & 2
Schism
Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)
Rosetta Stoned
Right in Two
Stinkfist
Wings for Marie (Part 1)
10,000 Days (Part 2)
Parabol

These aren't in the order that they were played, and that's all I can remember - they played one from Lateralus that I can't recall the name of, but I've never really listened to that CD fully. I will now, for sure. ;) Anyway! If you enjoy Tool and have the chance to see them, DO IT.
