Nearing departure...

In around a week and a half, I'll be on a plane for Montana (well, actually a plane headed for Denver, probably, and then one headed for Montana - you know how it is). I will be there for 6 long weeks (!!!). There are pros and cons to this:

Pros:
1. More money (per diem is always nice, and there are plentiful opportunities for overtime while out 'in the field'.
2. Glacier National park. This place is supposed to be beautiful, and I'll be right there. In fall-like weather, even.
3. I get a break from the I-want-to-slash-my-wrists politics of DC for a while. Seriously, people in smaller places are so much more chill. Unless you're 'too different', but that's another story.
4. Lots of free time. This is me stretching it for the pros.

Cons:
1. No Parthena :( I have really rather enjoyed being home and able to spend time with her, and now we will be apart. By a lot. For a while. Lame. She is coming to visit, though, which is quite spiffy and very cool of her to do. :)
2. No life. By and large, I have no life out on the road. It's like, for the time being, my life is 'suspended'. I miss everything, and I can't, obviously, have any major outings. Except with coworkers, and I'd prefer to avoid that as much as I can.
3. Brien. My brother. He's nice and he means well, but he can get annoying. There will be nowhere for me to hide.
4. Grizzly bears. As if to punctuate the fact that I cannot hide, even the wilds of Glacier National Park are not an option, for the Bears wait off the paths to consume everyone. Or so I am made to believe by how people talk about this place (I have little belief that I will be eaten, or even maimed, but still)
5. Short of the park and the Indian Reservation, there is NOTHING THERE. Did you know Montana has the least population per sq. mile ratio? It does. They have three businesses: Beef, Grain, and the Railroad. There is nothing here. Except records, apparently.

I will probably go insane. I have accepted this fact. It will be my every attempt, I assure you all, to catalogue this descent into madness to the best of my ability. Why? Because I like you all that much. But more because of personal amusement.

NOTE: I plan to make good use of my time until then (mostly by spending oodles of time with Parthena). Perhaps I will see some of you at the next two Alchemies (Alchemys? Who knows). Believe it if you dare, but I will be out!
