So my first day at Canwest went really well! It feels good to be back among the slightly awkward and self-conscious nerds that are print journalists (I have found radio people are blue collar types and tv is just....well, Ron Burgundy-ish) Very few are actually reporters in the office. Mostly editors/ copy editors
I work with a team of 3 others. 2 are around my age and the 4th is older but she seems very nice. they are all quiet but they like good music and SEEM laid back. I hope things go well. The best part is I work pretty much alone Sundays and can go in "whenever I want"
I got to read and edit stories about "Mommy 911" (how parents are calling and showing up at summer camps because they are over protective) and the best tupperware to buy ("This one's lid didn't snap on quite as nice as the other one") and another about Starbucks' new splashy sticks (the green sticks you put in the drink hole to stop them from splashing coffee when you drive or whatever). I'm like, seriously? Ugh. That's the only downside to my job. But the upside is I also read movie and book reviews for a living.
Now if I could just get G&M off my back. It's like a persistent disease that won't go away!
