i fought the war...

so today was wonderful. i got six hours of sleep, and my that is a nice way to start. after school, kate, michelle, maya and i went to the cezanne in province exhibit at the national gallery, and i, for the billionth time in the past year, got caught up in impressionism. please understand, i love impressionism. debussy makes my top ten composers list easy. but this is art, and it too was wonderful.

then we all headed over to the 9:30 club for METRIC! oh yeah! we found sarah, sofia, and yanna there too, which was awesome, and even livia, amrit and catherine showed up a little later. the first band, "men, women, and children" was great, even if their frontman was under the weather. when their album goes out (a week after my b-day) i will be all over that.

then came the sad part. the islands, who were really quite good, played. i was informed they were the EX-unicorns. when did the unicorns disband! ahhhh, no one can fill the void they have left. i was deeply saddened, and someone gave me a look for not knowing. i promptly returned a death look, like i'd stab this person with my unicorn horn.

but yes, metric was absolutely fantastic! they are truly one of those bands who you must see live. (for those of you classic rock people, boston was not one of those bands. apparently they sucked live, who knew?) anyway, they played a great set. they eventually left the stage to end the show, i think after hustle rose or combat baby. anyway, the audience cheered for like five minutes strait, and they came back for what must have been a thirty minute encore. so kick ass. did i mention that the lead singer, emily i think, made "dune" references at the end of the show? i may perhaps be in love.

but now i have a math quiz that i NEED to study for, and lots of history reading that i will probably forego.
