Today I'm fangirling
shinyopals and her post-JE fic
The Sum of Things. Which, I know, is old news, but I'm very behind in my reading (catching up though!). Anyway, the concept behind it is 100% medical-grade awesome, and she writes great action! adventure! sci fi! snogging! which you all know I'm highly in favour of. Her Doctor is I think quite literally more Doctory than any other 10.5 in fic (that will make sense if you've already read it) and I think the scenario she presents is really the only one in which I'm actually fairly comfortable with the baby-TARDIS-growing and the implications of that.*
She also has completely awesome things to say about Doctor/Rose post-Journey's End in this post
here.
*Fan-wankery aside re baby TARDISes and 10.5: I do not like it, nosir. If it was just a machine, I'd be much less irritated by the prospect (though narratively I still think it's a total cop-out and I think, in the abstract, the Rose/10.5 story is much more interesting without it because as
emma_tennant pointed out in my other journal today, with a TARDIS 10.5 and Rose have a life just like Ten and Rose did and we've already seen that--it's really not particularily new or interesting necissarily). As it is, however the TARDIS is a sentient being, and one who lives presumably for a very very long time, if not forever. Thing is, 10.5 and Rose have limited human lifespans. So they get to have their fun in the TARDIS for a few decades but...then what? They die and the TARDIS is left with no Time Lord, in a universe with no Time Lords or other TARDISes at all. How is this in any way okay, RTD? I simply can not abide TARDIS-abuse of any kind and that's like the ultimate in TARDIS-abuse. As we saw in Turn Left, the TARDIS without her Time Lord pines and withers and dies. THIS IS NOT OKAY. Ahem. So anyway, that's the story behind why I'm constantly making comments about my feelings about the Coral Scenario and shan't be watching that particular delted scene when I finally fucking get my hands on the s4 discs.
