Short review of new LtM? OMFGAWESOME \o/\o/\o/\o/\o/ :DDDDDDD

Long review of new LtM:

~No familiar faces this week. All together now: awwwww :(
~OMGWTFBBQ HOSTAGE SITUATION
~Serious display of balls from Eli. Or maybe I'm misinterpreting the bit where he volunteers to pretend to be the man Crazy-Guy-With-Gun wants to shoot, and then bait said Crazy Guy in order to save Cal's life (And the lord said LET THERE BE SLASH)
~Ditto for Cal, in fact! At times he seemed remarkably unperturbed by the gun jammed against the base of his skull (And the lord said LET THERE BE RESERVOIR DOGS CROSSOVERS)
~I forgive the show for its previous dearth of Reynolds, because he was in this one and he was AWESOME. ILU AGENT REYNOLDS <3
~Also, awwww Gillian. Don't cry! It's TV - all will be well! And the ending made me wibble a little and want to hug them both.

I read the new Pratchett book through the week: Unseen Academicals. After the vague let-down that was Making Money, and Nation (which despite being awesome, simply wasn't Discworld), UA was a magnificent return to form. Dead-on commentary on football (the sport, the players, and the fans), and a wonderful philosophical subplot. Vimes' one scene was enough to fulfill an entire book's awesome quota - I love seeing him interact with Ridcully - and Vetinari becomes more fascinating and compelling with every appearance. Nice cameo from Rincewind too.

And nothing will ever be more funny than Ponder Stibbons attempting to explain the offside rule.

ohmigod!, epic flaily joy, fandom: lie to me, epic win, post type: meta, fandom: discworld, fangasm
