I Must Be Insane

But something needs to get the muse in gear, right? Seen this one around a few times: the Timestamp Meme.

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes ( Read more... )

I would like to ask how you got the idea for 'The More Things Change' and why you had to make poor Dr. Chase suffer so. *shrugs* I'm bored too. My mouse decided to quit on me.

... someone has to feel guilty at this. Help me out. ;)

Lessee.

Damn, I'm really having to think about this one. I'd wanted to write a future!fic for a while, though the idea wasn't tied to any specific fandom or pairing yet. Then I started getting into House...I think I happened across fannish speculation somewhere about the effect the addiction and constant pain would be having on House physically - shortened life span and all that - and I know I'd seen a few fics with that sort of theme. So I thought, in that odd and twisted way my mind has, that as doctors his colleagues would see that coming, so wouldn't it be interesting to kill him off in a more violent and unexpected fashion?

I didn't really have any intention of actually getting off my ass and writing it. But then snowflakespeech asked for fic where an older Chase tells his own ducklings about House. And everything just sort of clicked. The House/Chase came about because I thought some romantic connection would make the whole thing more painful for the reader ( ... )

Long, but a satisfying read. It's interesting that this is what got you to write it.

Plus, I think you managed the task admirably well.

I wish I could write future!fics. I can barely stop writing in present tense. Oh, the fun that would be. I've tried writing in future tense a few times - those stories just got really weird and I abandoned them...

Thanks! Glad my ramblings were interesting ^^

I keep switching tenses when I write. It really annoys me, but I can't stop - I mean, even at the end of TMTC I started writing in present tense after having the whole thing in past tense. It worked, though, so I just left it. I've never tried writing in future tense...it sounds scary and confusing...

...and oh boy do I want to try it now...
