so, here's the thing...

I'm in the middle of...what's this place called again? Sonora? Yeah, there. We're staying the night 'cause we hit headwise into some nasty weather, and didn't wanna try to face (at least) the heavy fog.

We're staying the night before heading back to Harlingen. We spent the last (roughly) week in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. We used to go when we were kids, but hadn't been in the better part of a decade on account of we got busy, left El Paso, and the went to college. Stuff happens. But being as this year all of us were finally together again, we decided to make a road trip. I played in snow (despite having the flu [and apparant strep throat] the whole time) and we practiced some snowboarding.

Fucking righteous!

the trip was amazing, but it was a good time to go...our bodies had taken a beating from the excess falling, and we all need to recooperate.

Upon leaving earlier today, I got about 8 voicemails which I tried to return in as orderly a fashion as I could. Later, we passed through our old nesting grounds in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I tried to remember as much as I could about the old neighborhoods, parks, and schools. It was pretty cool. Then we went into El Paso. I was hoping to hang out with Jodi (and possibly meet her man) while I was there, but in an unfortunate twist of fate, we happened into town on the same day as the Sun Bowl!

Being that the Sun Bowl has always been a huge thing for El Paso and the UTEP Campus, I figured she'd be there, and sure enough she was. My family was anxious to get on the road, but I stalled as long as I could to keep them in town, but we left right as the game was coming to a close...so no dice. I'll just have to visit her some time in the future. Sorry Jodi, I'll just have to beat you in our contest later!

We made quick rounds to our old houses and schools in El Paso (and the area near Hornedo and Franklin has freakin EXPLODED in business) before heading out of town. We made it this far before the weather became a factor. It's all in good fortune though, because time and energy had taken their toll; my mom was dozing off when my dad went in to get room keys for the hotel. Don't ask me where we're staying, but it has Wireless internet, so it's good for me.

ETA Tomorrow: 9:00pm or later

that means I've got to clock out now. We've got a little over 9 hours of driving left, which could spell a much longer trip depending on trafic and such. Peace out and sweetdreams my dearies, and I hope everyone had a great christmas (or insert holiday celebration of prefference). Here's a toast to Cloudcroft and El Paso...and to starting a New Year, and finding another new me before I run out...

ps. my iPod nano that my parents got me for christmas is making everything so much more sweet.
