Okay...so I leave early today for work, so that I can go put gas in the S10 that my roommate is letting me use. I get to the BP over by Signal Mountain Wal*Mart. I get there and discover that I left the set of keys with the Gas Cap key at the house, along with my cell-phone. So I go okay, I'll just go home and get it.
I drive into the storm...yes, the one that passed through Chattanooga that had rain so heavy for two or three minutes you couldn't see. I get turned down my road...and there's a tree down about a mile into it. Too big for me to move...and the truck is too low for me to drive over the smaller branches at the top (which the Jeep that was driving behind me did...fucking show off). So I turn around and head to work...only to drive into the storm....again.
I drive out of the storm....and into another part of it. I get to work, I'm at an 1/8 of tank. No problem I think. Well, wasn't much to do at work. So I left at 8 and headed home. I'm thinking, yeah I'll have enough to get home and to the BP at least. NO....having a cover on the bed of a truck...DOES cut your gas mileage. SEVERLY!!!
So...I turn down my road...and run out of gas. I park in visitor parking at the apartments at the beginning of my road...and begin the 2.8 mile walk home.
Discovered that two trees had fallen, the second must have shortly after I got back onto Suck Creek. Ended up walking almost a mile of my road with a Blue Tick Heeler pup that seemed to think I needed the company.
I get home finally, roughly 40 minutes after the truck dying. Yeah, I do decent time walking long distances. I think I've finally leveled after that experience (yes, I just did a gamer ref...shush).
Thank you Thursday for the exercise, but did I have to get that way?
