Sickened

You know, it's been about four days since I saw this spectacle on Wellington Street and every time I think about it, it still angers me. What is this spectacle, you may ask. Well, let me tell you.

One of London's largest hospitals is on the corner of Wellington and Commissioners Roads. Every so often the anti-abortionists come out with their placards and protest. It's their right. I don't normally get steamed because it's a fundamental argument that no one ever wins. Last Thursday they were protesting, but instead of the usual signs - "THIS HOSPITAL KILLS BABIES", etc, they actually had large signs with pictures of aborted fetuses (sp?). It turns my stomach just to repeat the story. I was so angered that I wanted to stop my car and get out and just slap everyone of those people in to some sensibility. I know that it would do nothing but those signs just....ugh!

Don't those people realize that women do not make the decision to abort lightly, nor do they need to be reminded of their decisions in such insensitive ways. Their decisions are with them for the rest of their lives.

A public television station would have to have disclaimers prior to a documentary that had such graphic photos and I'd have a choice as to whether or not I'd watch the film. Freedom of expression is one thing...
