Had a really unpleasant online shopping experience lately. Saw a pair of really pretty oxfords this girl was selling on Sgflea, and even though she quoted $30 with meetup for a pair of preloved shoes, I really like the pair of shoes too much to resist, plus she stated clearly that it's only been worn twice. So i confirmed the shoes, transferred her the money via ibank immediately, and arranged for a meetup at Orchard MRT a few days later. On the day of the meetup, i texted her to confirm 2pm at Orchard, and she said ok. At around 1.25pm, i texted her to apologize and said that I would be around 5-10 min late cos i had an upset stomach, then at 1.40pm, she smsed me and said to change location to Dhoby Ghuat and that she would only reach at 2.30pm. I was a bit pissed off cos it was a Friday and I had plans too, but I thought better to be early than to be late, especially since she had seemed so nice and all. So anyway, I got to Dhoby at around 2.15pm, and waited for her until 2.45pm before she finally reached. After I met up with her at the MRT platform, she just thrust me the paper bag with the shoes (in a shoebox) and practically ran off. I found this a bit strange cos usually sellers who do meetups will ask you to check the stuff on the spot first, and so I opened the box to look at the shoes, and imagine how angry I was when i realized that the canvas material was practically dropping to bits, the colour was really faded and there were loose threads and whatnot hanging out. And worst of all, the soles were super scruffed, both were cracked, with the metal plate underneath showing, so it was impossible that she could have worn them only twice. hello, it looked like she's been going trekking in them!
And so i tried calling her (since she had left like only 5 minutes ago) but no one picked up, and so I dropped her an sms saying that I wanted a refund. She replied me like 45 minutes later asking me what was wrong with the shoes, and said they seemed okay to her when she was washing them for me. But hell NO, how could someone have the face to sell shoes that were practically unwearable, claiming that they've only been worn twice (when anyone with eyes could see otherwise!) and at $30 somemore! IF she had stated the defects on her site, or provided pics, I certainly wouldn't have paid $30 for something like that! So anyway, she agreed very quickly to give me a refund and told me to mail the shoes back to her. But to be honest, I didn't feel like I could trust her anymore, so I wanted to meet her (since we were both in town anyway! plus I live super far away from a post office) to get my refund and return her the shoes on the spot, but she refused, and continued to take her time to reply my sms-es (like every 30 minutes) and REFUSED to call me back saying 'i dont like to call people'.
So when she finally replied and told me she was reaching vivo (at around 4pm), I told her that I was also at Vivo and told her to meet me in front of topshop. She only replied like 15 minutes later saying she was going to sentosa (I want to give her benefit of the doubt here, but when we met up she was really nicely dressed up and carrying a small handbag, NOT what you'd wear to Sentosa at all!) and she was on the bus and the bus was leaving so she couldn't meet me etc and she was super rude like 'i don't understand why you cannot just mail me the shoes' and 'i wont cheat your money -_-' well, just like I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU CANNOT JUST PICK UP CALLS OR MEET ME AGAIN IN PERSON! and i do not appreciate a 16-year-old with stupid emoticons thanks. In the end, I told her that I would be opting for registered (because I didn't want her to have any excuses about lost mail etc) and would expect her to pay for postage, and she agreed in this super rude sms 'okay i will pay for postage okay acc number'.
I won't be putting up her personal info here because she did agree to a refund (which has already been done) but I do find her attitude and lack of integrity very disappointing. If she hadn't known how bad the condition of the shoes were, would she have agreed so readily to a refund? And if you know you'd be selling a pair of shoes in such a shitty condition, then pls DO NOT RUN AWAY FROM CONFRONTATIONS, gal. Plus a lil bit of manners would go a LONG way.
Still thinking if I shd leave her a neutral feedback, but not sure if i should. Oh well, just my luck I guess.
Oh and if anyone does want to get her lj nick/ email add, feel free to email me privately (the.stars.say@gmail.com) for it.
