So, remember how I created a new account several weeks back, and then Facebook turned around and demanded my cell phone number? I refused to give it to them (since I believe in things like not being forced to disclose one's private cell phone number), so they locked my account. No matter what I did, I could not log in unless I coughed up my cell.
Well. I let the account lie for several weeks, and thought I would try to log in again just the other day, hoping that they might have changed their minds on their policy. Instead, I find that they have deleted my account. Yes. Gone. Not that it's a huge loss, but of course this means that I literally cannot get on Facebook. The clear message is that unless I give them my personal information, I cannot have an account.
What peeves me off about this is that they're targeting new users. I think they'd have site-wide pandemonium if they started demanding cell phone numbers of every single person on Facebook. They don't want to anger the bulk of their users, so they target the few. And that pisses me off, because it's cowardly. If they're going to do this, they should do this to everyone, and then suffer the fallout.
So not only can I not get on Facebook, I will no longer try. I have a family account I could possibly use, but that's newer too, and I'm afraid of doing any business transactions lest they lock that account mid-transaction. I'm just so frustrated with this whole mess. You won't hear me throw up the "unfair" flag very often, but getting targeted like this because I'm new is exactly that.
I guess I'm stuck buying TFs on ebay. >:[
