Kennedy vs Alito...my bet's on neither

Jan 18, 2006 04:50

Yeah, you read it correctly, this is a slightly political posting. I have been following a bit of the Alito confirmation shite, and I've seen a whole bunch of republicans bitching about Sen. Kennedy's accusal of him belonging to a group that sought to keep women from his university. They are bringing up the senator's involvement in a social club that didn't admit women at the time. There's a huge difference here. In social club, think fraternity and sorority. That's what they can be compared to. Are there women in fraternities? I doubt it. Now as far as Alito goes, I can't really think of a comparison, but that's partly because I am drunk. But I think I still have a valid point. These people did not want women in their university, not just in their club. That is a massive fucking difference. How do these people not understand? To wrap this up, while I may be registered as a Democrat, something Bill O'Reilly can't admit to (look it up, he's a Republican and claims to be independent) I consider myself neither Rep. or Dem. Why should I be forced to choose between the two simply because our forefathers didn't have the gift of foresight? Yeah, you heard me, I'm knockin' the forefathers. This 2 party system is crap, and until we get rid of it, our government will continue to be a laughingstock around the world.
