I know there are a great many who have denounced Marvels
Civil War from day one. Indeed, you are the smart ones. I add the link for those who don't know what it is. Indeed, you are the lucky ones.
I, along with many others, have been strung along since the goddamn summer with this particular series. I have forked out hard earned cash, endured annoying delays, and even sat in on panels, panels I say, where-in us pawns of Marvel Comics co. sat and cheered while their nefarios ne'er do wells ejaculated all over our faces.
Finally the epic saga is complete. The dust has settled and the civil war has ended. OR HAS IT???!?!?!??!? I turned the last page only to have a veritable cornucopia, a fucking harvest feast, unload itself into my exploding brain. Yes, the "civil war" is over. BUT THINGS IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE ARE CHANGING. And indeed the only way to stay afloat is to buy the 7 most important follow up issues in the coming month alone. And lo', april showers not only bring may flowers but also widespread poverity to salivating fan boys the world over.
Seriously, here is an excerpt from the last page of the fucking comic book:
"...Okay now, kick back for a second, take a deep breath, shake it out and say it, go ahead, it's just us.
'WOW, WHAT A RIDE!'
It sure has been butif you're like me, CIVIL WAR Has just left you clamoring for more [editors note: BECAUSE NOTHING IS FKN RESOLVED ARRRRRAARARRARRRGGGGG], and here at li'l ol' Marvel we always aim togive ya what you want--and that's a little thing called (insert drum roll) THE INITIATIVE
"CIVIL WAR is going to have lasting effects across the entire Marvel Universe, so allow me to give you a short guided tour of some key titles you may want to put on your shopping list. Each of these will be clearly identified with an INITIATIVE banner to make it easier for you to find (and because we're shameless)."
They don't even bother to hide the fact that they are completely manipulating my greasy idiotic fanboy self.
I know, I know. Marvel is a company and like any company they must turn a profit. I should've known this would happen from day one, and deep down yes, sweet lucifer yes, I did. But I wanted so badly to believe that this would be different. Spiderman unmasking! Cap becomes an outlaw! It had the potential to be so much more than a pathetic money grab. I was dooped, and so were so many others.
No, I will not be buying any of this INITIATIVE shit. Except for punisher. I feel like Santa just died of cancer, which I just read in Chris Kaz'z lj may be cured soon. Yee fucking haw.
To my dearest Ryan Brown: I'm sorry.
