(no subject)
Am I the only one who thinks the new Pirates of the Carribean movie looks sucky? Seriously, everything about the previews makes this movie look ridiculously cliche. Cthulhu wakes up, and instead of executing Armageddon, decides he has a bone to pick with Jack. Ok, w/e. Elizabeth Swan cuts her hair and becomes a pirate. WTF? The last thing this needs is some Mary Sue femininst joining the crew. I just look at this movie and laugh. But it doesn't matter. No matter what I think about it, this movie is going to make a shit load of money simply because its got "Pirates" slapped in the title. Personally, I'll wait till dvd. I'm not looking forward to weeks of "OMG that movie was amazing! You should go see it!" No thanks. My taste in movies is ENTIRELY different from everyone I know. I have yet to see a movie where people have said that to me and have had it be true. (even X-Men III. Wasn't as good as the second one. The entire time, I'm like, you wanna solve the Jean problem? FUCKING kill her already!)
I'm also curious as to why everyone thinks pirates are so damn cool. Cause staying around with a bunch of grumpy men who don't bathe on a ship for WEEKS on end just to pillage a few ships, and then burying that treasure so no one could find it (a SOUND investment), before getting caught and hung sounds like a helluva party. So far the only reason I can come up with people thinking pirates are so cool is that Hot Topic happens to sell some pirate themed stuff. Wow. Original. Now you can look like every other scene fuck on Myspace. Good for you, you non-conformist.
Don't get me wrong, I did like the first movie. (Though, it probably should have ended at least a half an hour earlier. There were far too many "conclusions" for my liking. And the ability to just jump from Island to Island with no passage of time whatsoever was more than a little annoying. But I digress...) I sincerely hope, for the franchise's sake that they pull a Devil May Cry, and save the sorry second one with a Kick-Ass third movie.
