Ketchup

I had a nightmare this morning.  I couldn't wake up.  I would open my eyes, look around, and everything would seem normal.  Then I would look at the clock.  First the time would be hours later than it should have been, then the time would get buried in a thousand other little green data indicators.  Sort of like the Matrix graphic, but on a clock face, and not quite so regular.  If the clock was alright, I would realize that I was not in the same place that I had gone to sleep.  I would suddenly notice that I was hundreds of miles from where I had assumed.  The worst part was, these were major tip-offs that I was asleep.  I was absolutely certain that I was asleep.  But no matter what I did, no matter how hard I slapped at my cheeks, I could not wake myself up.  I have never been so relieved to hear my alarm go off in all my life.

I seem to be having a lot of nightmares lately.
I dreamt I was traveling from airport to airport.  Then suddenly I was in a corridor.  It seemed like the sort of hallway you would find in a fancy office building, and the rooms behind the doors were probably full of lawyers.  But then things started to go wrong.  Someone at the other end of the corridor started to open a door.  I screamed at him not to, to just come towards me and leave the door, but he either couldn't hear me, or didn't care.  Then there was a gust of wind and darkly coloured dead leaves, and he was gone.  This process continued down the hallway, growing closer and closer to my position.  People kept opening the doors and disappearing.  I couldn't save them, and they seemed to want to go.  I think at that point I became a camera, rather than a person, and got quite close in to the action of them disappearing.  That's when I discovered the Gentleman.  He appeared every time, just before they disappeared.  He started out harmless enough, but then suddenly, his fingers would grow into horrible talons, and he would proceed to rip the flesh from the bones of any person who opened a door.  I never actually saw him do it, because the camera would always turn away at that instant.  But that was almost worse.

In other news, the news seems to be mostly good.  It's been a week.  There are plans to pull out of Iraq, Gitmo is supposed to close, government documents are to be made available to citizens, the 'gag rule' is gone, green solutions are being encouraged, lobbyists are being discouraged, and there's a pay freeze for the people at the top.  I hope it sticks.  Like glitter.  Which is impossible to get off.

lack of coherence, obama, nightmare
