Captain’s Log,

My friend Lee is an interesting one; always has been. Recently he tells me that he thinks democracy as we know it is doomed. In its place, he envisions a system of Internet-enabled business owners…I don’t even remember it well enough now to describe it with justice. He’s definitely an alternative thinker. I would dismiss most people who came up with such ideas as crackpots, but to Lee I afford the respect of due consideration, and his ideas never fail to impress…even if I don’t always agree with them.

Elsewhere in life I am playing the dating game, or trying to. Being in love in a good way and then losing that makes me want to get it back, so I am exploring my options. It’s still a bit early for me to be doing this, but no longer too early. I presently come at it with an attitude of sanguine nonchalance. I’ll be comfortable, and if anything good comes of my searching, then so much the better.

I have also managed to rekindle (or have rekindled for me)-amazingly-most of my longstanding female friendships. In a short space of time, Elske, Astrid, and Terry all got in touch with me. I feel like I’m forgetting someone; if I am, hopefully it’ll come back to me soon. Unfortunately, I think I got Elske upset with me for a slight that I caused her about her age. I’ve also got Kendra’s mom and sister floating in the nearby distance, with whom I have interacted with occasionally, and will continue to do so. And then there’s my own sister, Katie, with whom I have interacted more than usual of late.

Thus, with the events of the above two paragraphs, a World of J recently deprived of Kendra that had been looking overwhelmingly male has suddenly found tremendous balance.

I’ve been doing an extraordinary amount of writing lately. The problem is that much of it is not useful, serving no purpose beyond the next day or two. I really ought to keep a daily master dump of everything I write, so that I can give myself an idea of my gross output.

I caught a nice photograph of the sunset tonight. I sent Stephen the game Chrono Trigger last night. I also watched the first disc of the old TV series Taxi last night, which I haven’t seen since I was a kid. Taxi is one of the best sitcoms ever made-viewing it again last night assures me of that-and the first three seasons are available on Netflix, so you have no excuses.

Life is good for the moment. Not enough food, though.
