Writer's Meditation Koan of the Day

Immersed in last weekend's Curious Tale Saturdays, is this pearl of wisdom from me to you:
One of the secrets of good storytelling is that your descriptions have to tell stories, rather than the "story" telling the descriptions.

I'm not usually a fan of chiastic rhetoric, as I find it to be more interested in sounding clever than being insightful, but this one really works. This one is at the heart of my own journey to become a better writer. It was true when I wrote it in 2012, and it's true today. It will always be true.
