The Soap!

Today was that day. I was in the shower and accidentally dropped my soap bar, and it landed on its edge. The short edge. Never before! Maybe never again.

THE IMPOSSIBLE IS UPON US!

If my life were a work of fiction, that would have been the moment where ominous music starts playing and suddenly the scene cuts to an interdimensional portal opening up, or some lovable old character whom everyone thought would live forever suddenly up and dies. Or, it would have been the moment at the end of the story where the impossible happens, the easygoing music starts playing, I smile knowingly about something unrelated (for which the soap is a metaphor), and the credits roll.

Ye Olde Fyne Prynte:

It was a regular bar of soap, and as you may know those are highly plastic-vastly improving my admittedly still tiny odds of this actually happening. (The business edge got a lot bigger on impact.) Counting against me was the fact that the soap bar was rather worn down, making its dimensions more extreme and thus the edge was even narrower than it would have been on a fresh bar. Also counting against me is the fact that the impact edge wasn’t the soap’s resting edge, and thus it didn’t have an extra layer of soapy softness to help it out.
