Beta request.
I'm actually trying to be organised in writing by longliveianto big bang fic, so rather than it be a rush at the end to get it beta by the deadline - which is in September, I'm going to try to find a somebody to beta it now.

Set directly after House of the Dead radio play.
Ianto pov. third person past tense. Jack/Ianto pairing.
Rating - adult for a number of reasons including suicide (Jack shoots himself in the head to remove an alien implant) and a sex scene, not exactly graphic, but certainly not a fade out one.
Word count. I'm thinking about 20,000, but it could be a little more, I usually end up writing more than I say I will. (Another reason to find a beta earlier rather than later.)
Deadline. I'll say the end of August, just to be sure of having it done in time.
Overview. (rather rambling, but covers main points.)
Ianto does detonate the box of rocks of seal the rift, but the House of the Dead was as it was said in the radio play a place between worlds. And he ends up on apparently alive again on the other side of the Rift.
Ianto then finds out a little bit about what he is - he's not a ghost, but he's not exactly human either. There a few people out there who have crossed through the Rift as ghosts to become something more. Bilis Manger was one of them. (Bilis Manger doesn't actually appear in this story, he's just mentioned to give some kind of frame of reference to what Ianto can do). He briefly meets another of the people who have travelled as a ghost through the Rift, the first to do so, she's a woman from Iron Age Wales, who's been travelling the Rift for centuries.
With the information she gives him Ianto set out to find Jack. He finds that he can use the Rift for travel (Like Bilis appears to). A version of the House of the Dead still exists, kind of like and echo, only it's just the main room. Each time he steps back into the Rift he arrives back there, each time he steps out he find himself somewhere new. The only problem is he has no control over it.
Eventually it opens somewhere that is at least in roughly the right time frame for not too much time to have passed for Jack from when he left from the House of the Dead.
He searches for Jack and eventually finds him. Jack has been a prisoner, a slave for a corrupt mining operation on an inhospitable alien planet for years. Jack has been there for quite a long time, rather longer than Ianto had thought had passed between the time they'd parted and the time he finds him.
Jack doesn't speak and doesn't seem to recognize him, he's thin and filthy dirty, hair grown and matted. The manacles round his wrists had obviously been too tight when they were put on and cut into his skin, and his healing ability had meant that the skin has healed over them in places. There some kind of tracking/shock collar as well.
Ianto gets him out and send information about about the company, enough to bring it down and get the other prisoners freed too. He takes Jack who's still basically non responsive back to the House of the Dead echo.
Ianto looks after Jack, who still doesn't seem to recognise him or do anything unless directly ordered. What Ianto hasn't realised (because there is no way he could.) That in addition to the collar, the mining company put an implant into Jack's brain which left him in a pretty much zombie like state.
Jack is trying to fight its influence. And one day when Ianto's back is turned, Jack removes it the only way he can think of - he shoots himself in the head - which unfortunately happens right as Ianto comes back into the room.
When Jack revives, he's able to tell Ianto finally about what happened. That he was on the planet for a few years, and what while he couldn't stop what was happening to him, he was still conscious for it.
They talk some more and finally end up in bed together. As although it's been a couple of weeks since Ianto rescued Jack, he's not done anything more than kiss him on the cheek as Jack hadn't been in a state where he could agree to anything.
Jack falls asleep afterwards and Ianto stays beside him, thinking about where they go from there. Ianto realises that he can direct the Rift energy using Jack's vortex manipulator to go where ever they want to go. When Jack wakes up Ianto tells him that they can travel, and he knows that can't go back and fix anything, but they can at least find somewhere/some when safe to be together and try to get to a point in their lives where they are ready to go back to helping people. So they set out together.
