Thank you :)

The young man that Ianto sort of recognized was Tommy Brockless from To The Last Man.

I had a whole backstory in my head for what Gwen and Tosh did, and how Tosh figured out how to get the Rift manipulator working. Part of it was realising that although Tommy had to be returned to 1918, once he was there and had used the Rift Key to seal the timeslip there wasn't actually any need for him to stay and die back then. Gwen always wanting to help people agrees that Tosh should send a note back with him for the 1918 Torchwood Team to collect him and put him back in cryogenic storage once he'd used the rift key.

So when they next wake Tommy up he's able to stay and continue his relationship with Tosh.

Being able to use the Rift like that is what gets Tosh looking again at the equation she'd left in the 1941 for Owen, Gwen and Ianto to use to get her and Jack back from the Ritz ballroom. She discovers that the final part of it had been removed, and that if Bilis hadn't done that her calculations would have been correct the Rift would have opened and closed safely.

I probably should really write this, but it's unlikely to be any time soon as I've got a ridiculously long list of other fic to write first.

You know what, I'm actually glad that you didn't include it in the story. I might have skipped over it. When my heroes are in danger, I just hurry to read on as I want to know what happens next (sometimes I go back and read the in-betweens later, though). So Tosh and Gwen just turning up at the end worked totally fine for me!

That's wonderful :) Tosh and Tommy forever. My list of "to be written" keeps getting longer and longer as well. Once you open up the AU can there's really no end to the parade of bunnies! I'd love to read more :)
