Not shallow at all. I think with Jack it's easier to go don't the psychological whump type route. I think I should write something though that isn't Jack getting hurt in some way though, just for a change (as in the last few fics I've written with him in he's been accidentally shot by an old friend, stabbed by a giant robotic bug, got a truly nasty space fungus infection in his lungs and had a panic attack from going into a mine due to memories of being buried alive - and the not resent ones are actually a great deal more pleasant) I think I need to write nice, happy fic for a change. (Unfortunately the one I'm currently writing is it)

I think my favourite island type story was Swiss Family Robinson. The tree house just seemed like the most amazing place to live. I liked Children of the New Forest as well for kind the same reason, the learning to live a very different life.

It has come through a bit in the fics I've written, as this isn't the only stuck somewhere fic I've done (the other being Love and Dinosaurs, with a rather unusual PC Andy/John Hart pairing.)

I think Burn Gorman wears contacts too, as in some of the not acting pictures (the sort of post show party type ones) of him he's wearing glasses.

I only ended up using lenses and glasses because of lab work (I trained as a bioarchaeologist, although didn't manage to end up working in it) and I couldn't manage with the microscopes or the total stations (kind of like a either with glasses or without.

I've not watched Lois and Clark, I've never really been in to superhero type things.

Oh, I don't think I read some of the others you mention, I totally shall go back in your LJ and seek them out! Especially the one with the mine sounds interesting.

I have grown up in Eastern Germany, so I only encountered the Swiss Family Robinson much later than my childhood days. I remember seeing it in TV once, but never read the book.

Of course *slaps self* And I do even have the picture to prove it:

Well, but "Lois & Clark" is different. It's a really great show (first season is a bit meh, but from second on it's really awesome). Because it's NOT about the Superhero bits. They are there of course as well, but mainly played for the fun - all the gangsters are so ridiculous. The main story is the relationship between Clark and Lois, though. And yes, she indeed falls in love with Clark eventually, as he is nice and real, as opposite to this dream picture of Superman. Some day she also finds out about his secret, and that's the episodes I love most - as they both have to get to know each other anew. She suddenly realizes she has to share him with the whole world, he often ends up running away to help people when she wants to have a relationship talk ;) And his superskills come in handy for, say, renovating their flat in record time LOL

It's just a really cute, romantic, heartwarming show. I also love the setting of the Daily Planet, the newspaper office, and their boss who looks grumply on the outside, but has a totally heart of gold. Also, Lois (played by Teri Hatcher) is not the damsel in distress, she holds up herself quite well in dangerous situations.

The one with the mine is Out of Dark Places which I wrote with Harkpad02 to tw-collab-fest, the metal bug was Just Another Torchwood Evening, shot by old friend was Song as Old as Time, and the lung fungus was Things Lost and Found Along the Way.

Already found the mine and am reading right in this moment! But thanks for the titles of the others, that makes it easier to locate them.
