"I want them," Buffy announced loudly, looking down at the table of assorted jewelry. Most of it was garish, the sort of thing her grandmother would have worn back when she was a girl. But all Buffy could see was how pretty they were, how golden and glittering. She had to have them.
The demon smiled, pleased at having a customer whose acquisitiveness was so transparent. This one wouldn’t be good at haggling, he was sure.
"'Course you do, these are 100% genuine, most of them real ancient luck charms from Constantinople." He lied cheerfully, talons clicking in excitement on the table. "Now, let's see. I can part with a necklace for just forty dollars or if you've got something real interesting to trade, but for the bracelets we're talking a lot, lot more."
"No," Buffy clarified with a childish stomp of her foot, "I want all of them."
A look of pure joy passed over the demon merchant's face at this loud announcement. He was about to name a price, when Buffy's fist suddenly made contact with his chin. Surprised at the unexpected assault from the small girl, he could only roar and make a clumsy move to claw her.
Buffy was having none of it. She punched him again, harder and repeatedly, until he fell with a satisfying thud at her feet. Smiling prettily she stepped neatly over his prostate body and laid her grasping hands on the goods.
Without noticing the other customers strolling up and down the busy street, Buffy quickly placed several dozen bracelets around her wrists, enjoying the clanging noise they made as she subsequently raised her hands behind her neck to attach two heavy necklaces. The demon twitched on the ground, a moan escaping his lips but Buffy was far too busy deciding which of his rings she wanted to claim to pay him any mind.
