It was brought to My attention that one of My Chlark stories, an NC-17 fic titled Ravenous could be the base material for someone else's story. While I feel that ALL writers generally share the same ideas and some material overlap due to the nature of Superman lore, Ravenous' plot points of Chlark being a week apart with both pining for each other and the actual NC-17 scene occurring in a vehicle specifically on a "back road"...are too similar in the other story.
Will I post other comparisons?
No.
Why?
Comparisons are already being made, by other readers, ones that have been compiling "plot point similarities" between My original material, other writers' original work and this "writer's" stories for over a YEAR now. Those that know Me well know I''m narcissistic to think that the story was a homage to My work, but in the past year, this high-profile writer has been "homaging" other writers' hard work, and getting reviews based on someone else's original thoughts.
This is not the first time this "writer's" name as been brought up in this way, plagiarism of stories, either in major Smallville websites, private writing communities, fan-fiction sites, IMs or emails, and sadly, I fear it won't be the last.
I also fear that people will be blinded to the plagiarism for the fact that "the writer" supports Chlark/Chlois, not just through stories ("the writer's" "work" or copying someone else's original stuff) but through posts and being a part of all the Chlark/Chlois fan promotion endeavours. And of course, "the writer" made friends this way.
But all Chloisers and Chlarkers have to wonder what good is the support/friendship of someone that frequently casts aside two of Chloe's main virtues, honesty and truth (in the creation of "the writer" stories); this "writer" is agreeing with what the Chloe/Clark fan majority is saying, yet pilfering someone else's material. "The writer" could be your friend and copying your work. Let that be a sobering thought.
What do I realistically expect? I ask fellow writers and readers to simply not comment on "the writer" stories; to comment would encourage ""the writer's" stories, by extension that would encourage "the writer" to read and steal other original work. Be friends if you want, because I feel that could be "the writer's" own work.
ALL writers, of Chlark stories, NEED to be aware that this plagiarism is STILL going on, and to not think that your original work is safe as long as this "writer" is still typing.
My original work stands on its own merit, and the Chlark/Chlois writing fraternity is such that we all KNOW who is the plagiarist. Frankly, I'd rather be known as a rumormonger than a plagiarist, but I bring this ugly matter up because My work could be affected; next time it could be your work...
