The Human Body: A Friday Arvo Job

It's a good thing I don't believe in 'Intelligent Design', because otherwise I'd have to track down the responsible deity/ies and punch them in the nose.

I guess that eventually we'll have the computing power to run evolutionary simulations on our genes which allow us to specify specific goals for the resulting bodies, and then apply the gene-diff to ourselves.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a rather more radical redesign. Perhaps a five-, six- or eight-fold symmetrical form, with each segment having a complete set of organs (including brain lobes) and the body's systems run in parallel. Imagine something like, oh, a six-foot tarantula with no abdomen or face, with the spider legs replaced with two-thumbed orang-utan arms, and the eyes replaced with multiband forms of mantis shrimp eyes and located equidistantly around the torso.
