Nostalgia was what led me to Google for a webcomic character I vaguely remembered from many a year ago, and then to see what the artist (who I'd once had a very short email exchange with) was doing these days.
Dishearteningly, it seems they went into a minor internet infamy spiral a while back, resulting in a sparse trail of vaguely deprecatory references (and some unfortunate photos) on a bunch of different sites, then fell pretty much completely off the art scene and turned up in another country, net-linked to an unusual set of interests and what appears to be a sharply notable lack of their previous enthusiasm for life in general. And all by their mid-twenties. They're on LJ now, but I won't link - I don't think the attention would be appreciated.
Still, H, if you ever read this, there were and are fans out there who loved the carefree work of your early years, no matter what the bored internet muckrakers did later on. You were one of my inspirations to look into art classes of my own, and even if they never led anywhere, they were a lot of fun and helped to break me out of a funk. Thanks for putting some fun back into the world.
