One trip to Ikea later, and about fifty linear metres of assorted horizontal surface are due to show up first thing tomorrow.
I may actually be able to unpack stuff from the move two years ago. Once I get everything bashed together, of course.
I also want to try a hack on one aspect of the shelving. This may involve a handsaw or something similar, as I want one vertical riser of a 'ladder-style' shelf support, but not the other. I figure I can chop the spare wood up into some neat little items which will reversibly jam the semi-unsupported shelves in place. This way, I can set the shelves up reasonably high and put a couch underneath in future, where the other half of the support structure would normally have been.
Come to think of it, if I do it right, I won't even have to take a drill to anything. The extra support beam comes with the right-size holes predrilled.
