Finished Music Theory for Dummies which covered the basics in quite sufficient depth and had a bunch of reference information. It didn't go into composition as much as I would have liked, but it certainly gave me a whole bunch of information I didn't have before.

Right. Off for an early night, it's the second week of the Skipper's Ticket tomorrow morning.
