Right. Just finished rewriting several paragraphs of legalese that lurk in my upcoming employment contract. Will email it to the Friendly Boss tomorrow and see if it makes his eyes bug out.

Approximate rundown:
Old contract: The Company owns everything you think of.
New contract: You own everything you think of that's not directly part of your job, although if it's something that's currently busy keeping large chunks of us afloat, we get to keep that copy gratis. We also get first dibs if you think of something we could use and want to sell/lease/develop it. And you get up to one day's use of very basic office resources (excluding people, time, money or Big Iron) per year to think up new things.

Old contract: You get a multi-thousand-dollar pay cut.
New contract: You get a pay rise (of less than one percent)!

Old contract: Unlimited mandatory unpaid overtime.
New contract: Voluntary well-paid overtime, but you only get paid for the extra hours we agree to beforehand - no camping in the office.
