I've come to the conclusion that I need to 'lurk moar' around DDD. Ever since that one time I spoke with Ms. Philomel I haven't seen her again ( Read more... )

O-oh dear...I'm afraid I have made a rather large folly...I hadn't expected you to actualy end up reading this...rather embarrassing really...

Well you know now how much I have missed our conversation...

How is your work going!?

Oh. Ahah--this is rather embarrassing. My apologies!

It progresses steadily. We are making appreciable strides in decoding spoken dragon vocabulary--it's very interesting.

No no, you have nothing to apologize for, it was my foolishness that led to my own embarrassment.

I'm afraid I've never seen a real dragon, let alone heard one. Especially long enough to decipher it's language, it must be very exciting for you!

Perhaps I could show you how to lock private journal entries, so as to avoid future embarrassments of, ah, this type?

It is, truly. We had some difficulty with it for quite some time, but it seems every day we understand more!

That would be much appreciated

Oh? Is it anything like our language, what with grammatical rules and the likes?

It's simple enough--when you are entering the text of your post, there's a place where you can select the level of security for the text. They have several levels--so that it is private, so that it can be seen by friends only, so that it is restricted from only certain people.

Not at all, actually, which is why we had such trouble initially.

((I figure DDD-style locking works like regular LJ flock, only more variable. If it doesn't, uh, pretend her explanation is however it actually works? :D?))

Ah, yes, I see it now! How di dI miss it!?

I see, is there anything it could be compared to so that I may better grasp the concept?

It's a tricky little button, and easy to overlook.

Perhaps--have you ever studied one of the Eastern languages--Japanese or Chinese--or perhaps any of the native languages from Africa? The difference is magnitudes greater between English and the dragons languages, but of a similar caliber.

Well thank you very much for pointing it out to me, I shall try not to over-look it in the future.

I had taken some interest in Arabic for a time, but if that's the difference, then I congratulate you on making such progress on a language previously unknown, Truly fantastic!

You're quite welcome.

Yes, we are, ah, rather proud of ourselves. Not overly so, of course--we know we have much yet to learn--but such progress has been made already!

Pride may be a sin, but un-locking even SOME of the secrets of another creatures speech deserves a spark of pride, I think.

And we realize we still have much yet to learn, so at least it's not blinding pride.
