MythTV has native support for LCDd. It will display its menus for X seconds after a new menu has been entered, the current track/recording information or, if nothing interesting is happening, the time.
Since there is a curses based LCD client, it would be a simple matter to have a terminal window openned on the machine running myth_remote so that you don't actually need to see the mythfrontend display to navigate menus.
Alternatively, this could be integrated into the myth_remote window. If one was feeling extra keen, the LCD output could be used to automatically context shift the myth_remote menus.
This could be a solution for those people who want to use a touchscreen as a secondary display to control myth (given there is no mouse support in myth, this is Not An Easy Thing). Something like myth_remote or mythwifi for the control, a prettied up LCD-in-a-window for the display. It might need some hacking at the mythtv side to allow larger LCD displays/more information.
