naked black genitals

I found this book: Anatomy for the Artist, at BAM. I'm not going to say it's the best anatomical reference out there because it isn't, but I have a few anatomy and figure drawing books and this one has a few things the others don't. For one, nifty vellum skeletal overlays. For another, lots of very good photographs. But it was the black models that intrigued me above all, a thing not common in anatomy books, likely for the difficulty of muscle distinction on dark flesh, but as I said, they are superb photographs reproduced beautifully so that this is not an issue. Couple that with the SECTION (not paragraph) on... wait for it... genitalia, and I had to have it. Oh yes. My book.

Finished Imajica. Cried a little. I know I didn't cry the firt time I read it. Tears of joy. Am getting old or something.

Began Abarat. Another Clive book if you are not familiar. A children's book (one that you might be hearing more about in the future as Disney has bought the rights to it... exactly what Disney intends to do with a Barker story (outside of rape and disembowel) I cannot say). I started it once before but classes intervened. It's a very fast read once Candy Quackenbush leaves Chickentown USA and steps (or rather dives) into the Abarat. The creatures therein seem to be fantastic inventions for even Mr. Barker, and the pacing is relentless. Not overwelming, not at all, but it's difficult to stop reading once its begun. And the illustrations are wonderful! It's also very interesting the way ideas and even names from some of his other books make their appearances. As if everything else has just been research.

And Want: Two, Rufus' newest, is, as I suspected, an absolute aural pleasure. I mentioned it before but I have to stress it. A very good album. Waiting for a Dream, Memphis Skyline, and The One You Love, are just a few good examples of why I love him.

abarat, barker, books, rufus, hehe dick
