Before Keynes v Hayek

There was Jefferson v Hamilton.

I was always interested in the economic policies that separated these two historical figures, but never had the educational push or resources back in the dinosaur age to make them come to life for me.

Clay Jenkinson is a humanities scholar who is also the premiere Jefferson interpreter in the country. His radio show, The Thomas Jefferson Hour, runs on public broadcasting stations. It's also available on iTunes.

I caught a few minutes of his most recent show, A Modest Farm (#935), that helped to bring those economic policies into a clearer focus.

Click on the top link to listen. It's all great to me, but relevant portions are at 3:30, 11:45, and a lengthy discussion at 17:30. (Warning: in-period discussion also involves Jefferson's slaves.)

Jefferson decries Hamilton as a supporter of the rich speculators, and explains that what we are seeing now is the culmination of Hamilton's policies.

Anyone else have an interest in this? Or insight? I'm going to listen more but if you have other resources I'd like to see them too.
