This could be huge. Hugely expensive, and perhaps a huge distraction limiting electric vehicle acceptance, but huge nonetheless.

Limiting? How so? I see this as a good step in the right direction towards increasing electric car usage, no?

Only if the tech is affordable and easily ramped up, something I doubt will happen. The better batteries will fetch a higher price for the most obvious uses like laptops, cell phones, power tools and music machines, all which demand quick charging. Only until that market is saturated will affordable batteries trickle down to the car level ( ... )

I've been watching Tesla for a few years now. The closest service station they have to my part of Canada is in Chicago, so it's not feasible right now. That car will go 300km on a single charge! I sooooo want one. I just hope the economic downturn won't affect development of their product.
