The freaky thing is that the financial analyst of my generation (GenX) is a comedian/satirist on a comedy cable channel.
Think about that for a minute. The sole public voice with broadcast capability from my entire generation is a satirist on late-night cable TV. Is it any wonder the market collapsed with this level of disinterest by the people who have to pay for this mess?

Yep. Just about anyone watching CNBC or these other financial shows and networks over the years who bought into the whole "it's different 'this time'" mantra were really also willing participants in the massive hallucination.
I wonder if Rick Santelli will show his face on Stewart's set? Highly unlikely...
After that? Hell no. CNBC sent Cramer to take the fall for their collective failure. Do you think they'll pay him a scapegoat bonus when he takes early retirement before the end of the year?
He was expecting to come out being contrite and admitting to a small degree of failure, which Stewart would reward with a little bit of tolerable but on the whole friendly joshing. I think he missed just how personally Stewart took this. He made a fleeting barb earlier in the week about CNBC and the rest of the financial news media costing his parents their retirement savings. So he gave Cramer the hammering he had planned to give Santelli.
This is getting a lot of play in the MSM. I had read in a number of comment threads on HuffPo and elsewhere that 'Jon Stewart should get a Peabody' for this, though they were of the 'half in jest/wholly in earnest' variety. But now that does not seem such a wild idea.
