Anyone know if there is any decent fanfic out there based on Alistair MacLean's The Guns of Navarone? I'd prefer stories based on the book's characters rather than the movie, but I'll take what I can get at this point! Self-pimping welcomed...

But by all means, definitely try out the source material, lol! I prefer the books to the movies, especially for the sequel, Force 10. Alistair MacLean was an awesome writer and wrote some of the best thrillers out there. The Guns of Navarone movie was excellent in its own right, but die hard fans didn't appreciated the complete turnaround in the relationship between the two main characters. Well, at least I didn't! So sally forth...and enjoy. Thanks again!

On Crete -- set before the books and movies. Gen.
Transit -- right after the movie. Slash.
Nest-egg, which will make no sense unless you have read "Storm Force From Navarone" and "Thunderbolt From Navarone"". Gen.
Miller was drunk (the Christmas story). Gen. Gen-ish. Hints of slash if you squint just right.
If you find other Navarone fic, please please drop me a line!

Actually, there was an archive for Navarone fic many, many years ago, but I believe it was removed due to problems with The Powers That Be. I may be wrong on that, but in any case, the archive no longer exists.
The only other Navarone story I know is a very well written crossover with Hogan's Heroes called "A Tiny Little Job" by Alekto. I normally won't touch crossovers, but she did an excellent job with this story. And while I wished it focused more on Mallory and crew, she has a good grasp on all the characters as well an extremely well conceptualized villain. You can find the story here: A Tiny Little Job
Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to reading your stories!

Hm. I wonder if the WayBack Machine would be able to find that archive. The mere idea of an entire archive is pretty exciting to me!
Re the pro-fic: Storm Force is, I thought, pretty good. The high point of Thunderbolt, on the other hand, is counting the number of thing that are climbed and/or blown up.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot from Navarone books by a different author than MacLean, so I'm glad to know at least the first one is good. In any case, I'm looking forward to reading them!
