A relative came to stay with us... she smokes... and although she smoked outside (I would NEVER have allowed her to smoke INSIDE), it wafted through the door and I breathed it in. I coughed... and then this morning WHAM!!!... Sore throat and a case of NOT HAPPY JAN.
YESSSS! Spot on. It really hurts. And I know a lot of people (especially smokers) would pooh me saying this... but I really do believe that inhaling cigarette smoke makes me very vulnerable to getting colds/flues. It's like my body is so allergic to the crap in cigarette smoke that upon breathing even the smallest bit in I end up with a really sore throat, and the next morning I feel like a truck has hit me: no energy, lethargic, sick.
Wow, you do sound very sensitive to it. I must admit one of the reasons I used to hate going out at night to places was that you'd come home and everything you wore smelt of smoke as if you'd rolled in an ashtray!
