In the Dirty Desert

Hey ya'll!
Well, it has been a long, long time since my last post, so much so that I don't remember where I last left you. With that in mind, I'll just re-kindle what has transpired within the last three months. In early May, I left the good ol' U-S- of A, for the UAE. That's the acronym for the United Arab Emirates. I'm here taking care of top-secret military stuff. *It's not really top-secret* I've been working 13+ hour days for two weeks on/one day off in the sweltering heat. Little unknown fact, a desert can still be humid as f@&%. The base is situated close to the Persian Gulf, but not close enough for it to rain here. I've been here for about 90 days and have not once seen it rain.

The horizon has me feeling a mixture of anxiety and excitement. You see, I'm coming up to the end of my first enlistment, and I have to make the difficult decision of whether or not to re-enlist. On one hand, I'm in a job that I'm not totally happy with, but I get a steady paycheck. On the other hand, I can strike out and find my own way, but face uncertainty. I don't want to bore you with all the particulars, but that is the long and short of it. It has been a dilemma that has been plaguing my mind for the duration of this deployment....

On a happier note, I plan to be stateside in early October. This would make my longest deployment of just over 5 months. I know that it isn't anything when compared to the Army's deployment of 18+. My heart really goes out to those brave souls. I hope to see you when I get back.
