Summary: Dean's nightmares are keeping him awake at night, causing him to be exhausted all the time, so Castiel decides to help him get a good night's sleep.

The euphoria didn’t last long. By the next morning, Dean was officially in freak out mode.

He couldn’t deny how he felt about Castiel. Not anymore, which normally would be fine. He was a big boy, he wasn’t ashamed to care about someone, or to want to do certain unmentionable things to them.

But it was the realisation that he did indeed want to do unmentionable things to Castiel that freaked him out.

He had never felt an attraction a man before… well, that wasn’t strictly true, he had always been able to appreciate a good looking guy, but he had never acted on it and certainly hadn’t had these all consuming compulsions to throw a guy down onto a bed and have his wicked way with them before.

It probably had a lot to do with Castiel being an angel. There was probably something about his heavenly presence that attracted him to him, that and he did have the whole, dragged him out of hell and rebuilt him connection with him. But still, his need to get Cas naked was completely overwhelming, which of course was terrifying.

He had no idea if Castiel had done anything like that himself, or if he even wanted to. Maybe he was happy with just cuddling and exchanging the odd chaste kiss every now and again. What would he do then? He wasn’t sure he would be able to keep his hands to himself, to be able to stop himself from pushing him for more.

He was just a man with natural urges after all.

“Dean?” Sam asked.

They were currently sat in the Impala driving towards their next job. It was up north again so once they were done they would likely make a stop off at Bobby’s and have a break, or at least try to.

“Yeah?” Dean asked him, not taking his eyes off the road.

“You okay dude?”

“Fine why?”

“You’ve just been quiet since we left the motel this morning. I mean, you’re not even playing any music, not to mention you keep looking at me weird.”

Dean sighed, “I just got a lot on my mind,” he said. “Plus, I worry about you.”

“Dean you don’t have to…”

“I know I don’t have to, but I do. It’s what big brothers are for,” he said.

Sam sighed, “I know you don’t approve of what me and Ruby are doing…”

“Sam I couldn’t care less what you are doing. So long as you’re not putting yourself in any unneeded danger, you two can go use your super brain to paint water colours for all I care. Doesn’t matter. I just need to know that you’re safe, that you’re not doing anything stupid,” he said, trying to throw him off and trying not to say anything he shouldn’t as Cas would likely kill him if he did.

“We’re safe,” Sam said quietly, turning to look out the window.

Dean frowned at that, so they were being safe, but Sam didn’t exactly deny that they weren’t doing something stupid. Great, this was all he needed.

They arrived at their destination a few hours later, immediately checked into a motel and went to the diner across the street to get something to eat. Neither of them had said anything else about their conversation in the car, each of them both worrying about what the other was thinking, worrying that they would look down on them if they discovered what they had been doing in private lately.

As they waited for their order, they began to discuss the job, what they had to do first and when to do it. Sam wanted to go in all guns blazing while Dean wanted to do some re-con first, find out exactly what it was they were up against. In fact, he was a bit surprised at his brother as usually he would be the one telling Dean to take it slow.

They were still arguing about it when their food arrived, so much so that they didn’t even notice Castiel standing watching them from the counter.

He waited a few minutes, watched them talking animatedly in hushed tones, or rather, watched Dean.

It had pained him terribly to leave him like he had that morning, to not be there to watch him wake up, to hold him in his arms as he slipped back into consciousness. One day, one day soon he would get the chance. Perhaps the next time he stayed with Bobby and didn’t have to share a room with Sam.

Sam who seemed to be wielding a fry as a weapon, thrusting it in Dean’s face as he tried to make his point. Dean just rolled his eyes at him before grabbing the fry out of his hand and eating it in one.

Castiel smiled. He could watch Dean interact with his brother all night. But there were more important things to be dealt with and so he decided to make himself known.

“If you two don’t stop arguing, your food will get cold,” he said as he appeared in the booth beside them, sitting in between Dean and the window.

“Jesus!” Dean shouted. “I swear, I’m gonna put a freaking bell round your neck,” he threatened, however, the smile he was wearing showed that he meant no malice.

“I would love to see you try Dean,” Castiel said, reaching forward and stealing some of Dean’s fries.

Dean watched him eat, feeling himself drool slightly. It was beyond hot, the way his lips closed round the fries, the way his tongue slipped out to lick up fallen salt. It was damn near pornographic.

Sam’s jaw dropped, not only at the way Castiel had joked with Dean, but that Dean had let him steal his food and was now staring at him as if he was a giant piece of pie just waiting to be eaten.

“Didn’t know you had to eat,” Dean said.

“I don’t,” Castiel told him, his eyes twinkling as he remembered their conversation from the night before.

“Right,” Sam said, clearing his throat and making both his brother and the angel turn to look at him, “so uh, nice to see you Castiel.”

“You too Sam,” Castiel nodded.

“To what do we owe the pleasure?”

Castiel looked at Dean out of the corner of his eye, knowing that he couldn’t just give him as a reason. And as much as that was part of it, there was something else too.

“What do you know about Mara?” Castiel asked, stealing some more fries, not even flinching when Dean hit the back of his hand.

“Uh…” Sam found it a little hard to concentrate with Castiel and Dean’s strange behaviour, “he was Buddha’s adversary right?”

Castiel nodded, “He was banished to Hell not long after his battle with Siddhartha…”

“Who?” Dean asked.

“It’s Buddha’s real name,” Sam explained.

“However, his daughters; Rati, Raga and Tanha were not. They too fought with Siddhartha and were unsuccessful so went underground, avoiding capture and punishment. We had thought they were dead.”

“Let me guess,” Dean said, “they’re alive and kicking right?”

“I’m afraid so,” Castiel nodded. “And we have reason to believe that they will attempt to raise their father from the Pit, and in doing so, breaking another seal.”

“Are they behind all these disappearances?” Sam asked.

“We believe they are,” Castiel confirmed. “They appear to men as the object of their inner most desires before luring them off to their death. They need the blood of sixty nine men to complete their ritual. They have sixty five.”

“Hold on, sixty five? We only have reports of eleven missing.”

“Not all beings on this earth are missed by others,” Castiel explained.

“They’re using the homeless?” Dean asked, feeling completely disgusted. However, the look Castiel gave him, knowing he was there with them, made him feel a whole lot better about it if he was honest. “Right, so where do we start?”

~*~*~*~*~*~

“Garden of Eden?” Dean asked as he looked up at the neon sign. “That some kind of sick cosmic joke?”

“It is kind of ironic,” Sam agreed.

“We can discuss the name later,” Castiel said. “Right now we have a job to do.”

As they approached the door, the bouncer gave the three of them a look. Dean knew that look well, it meant ‘no way in hell are you getting in’. But then, Castiel waved his hand and the bouncer simply stood to the side and waved them through.

Sam snorted in amusement, “Who knew Castiel was a Jedi.”

Dean elbowed him, but smiled inwardly as so many inappropriate light saber jokes popped into his head.

Castiel lead the way inside, the acrid smell of alcohol, cigarettes and vomit apparently not bothering him - must be that not needing to breath thing. Dean and Sam followed closely behind, squinting as they entered the main room and had their eyes assaulted by strobes. And then they were assaulted by breasts… lots and lots of naked breasts.

Dean took a deep breath. As soon as Castiel had told them they were going to a titty bar, he knew he would have had a hard time concentrating, but this was just insane.

“So who are we looking for?” Sam asked, completely unfazed, but then, Ruby did have a rather nice pair of her own, so why would Sam be bothered?

Castiel nodded his head towards the stage where three asian beauties were putting on one hell of a show for their patrons. Castiel let the boys watch for a moment before he carried on walking, leading them towards the back stage area.

“This is the last dance,” he said once they were out of the dark and in the bright light of the underbelly of a strip club. “Once they come off stage, we kill them. Understood.”

Sam and Dean nodded and once more followed Castiel as he led them into what appeared to be the girls’ dressing room.

They sat and waited, stiffening slightly when the thump, thump, thumping of the music stopped and the corridor outside was filled with the sound of giggling girls and gruff sounding bouncers.

And then, the room was filled with three, very naked, very beautiful girls, all of whom stopped dead when they caught sight of Sam and Dean.

Immediately they went into acting mode, pretending to be fans. They girls fell for it, smiling and grinning at them and apparently seeing this as an opportunity to raise their body count. That was, until one of them noticed Castiel.

She had turned to close the door and in doing so, revealing Castiel to them. She made to scream but never got the chance as Castiel raised his shiny angel death stick and stabbed her through the heart with it, turning her body to ashes almost instantly.

The other two hissed at him before turning to Sam and Dean. One of them immediately turned into a naked Ruby and pinned Sam to the ground, “Cas, help Sam!” Dean shouted as his path was blocked. But when he turned back to look at the evil demon bitch coming his way, he was frozen to the spot as a naked and glistening Castiel was stepping towards him.

“What the?”

She… he… the thing pinned him up against the wall before trailing a hand down his torso and gripping at his genitals, “What’s wrong Dean?” he asked, “don’t you want me?”

Dean screwed his eyes shut, “You’re not him,” he whispered. “You’re not him.”

“No, I’m better than him,” he whispered. “I can give you everything you want, I can give you my body, I can make your toes curl with the kind of pleasure you can’t even imagine. I can…”

Dean opened his eyes to see the naked Castiel turn to ash, while the fully clothed and real Castiel was standing behind him, her, it, a look of utter fury on his face.

And then there was Sam.

He was sitting at the other side of the room, a pile of ash by his side and a look of complete and utter shock on his face.

“Come,” Castiel said to them both. “We must go.”

Dean watched as Castiel walked across the room and opened the door, not sure exactly why he wouldn’t look at him, why he seemed to be angry at him.

“Dean,” Sam said as he scrambled to his feet. “Come on dude he’s right. We have to go.”

“Right,” Dean nodded, pushing off the wall and stepping past Sam who was giving him a weird look… at least he wasn’t pissed with him like Castiel was.

When they got outside, Castiel turned to them, “You did well,” he told them, or rather Sam, unable to look at Dean, “I will be in touch.”

And with that he was gone. Leaving them in the parking lot of the strip club, not really knowing what to do with themselves. Sam turned to Dean and was slightly shocked to see the amount of pain on his brother’s face as was there.

“Dean…”

“Don’t,” Dean said as he pushed past him. “Let’s go try and get some sleep.”

Sam sighed, “Sure,” he said, knowing that there was no way he was going to get his brother to open up to him any time soon.
